The Accessibility of Digital Services

The advancement of the digital society requires that all citizens have access to digital services. In its statement (in Finnish) on the draft action programme for accessible digital transport and communication services, the FCCA considered it important that the future cooperation between different players is ensured. The requirements set for the services and the practical implementation models must be as uniform as possible, regardless of sector. The FCCA supported setting the Design for All (DFA) principle as the basic goal of the action plan.  However, access to necessary assistance must be ensured for consumers who cannot independently use even the most easy-to-use solutions.

Key issues for the implementation of accessibility also include the interoperability of devices and services, ease of use and clear contract terms.  In addition, the FCCA emphasised device manufacturers’ and service providers’ responsibility for data security and integrating data security into the service entity.
