Electronic Identification

Identification devices can be regarded as a basic service of the information society. Successful implementation of the identification transaction is a precondition for allowing consumers access to many key public and private electronic services. The FCCA influenced the regulation and codes of conduct of electronic identification by issuing statements to the Ministry of Transport and Communications (in Finnish) and the Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority (in Finnish), as well as through cooperation between authorities. In the FCCA’s view, the responsibilities related to identification and trust services should be defined in order to safeguard the position of consumers as end users of the services.
