Regulation on the Cooperation of the EU Consumer Authorities (CPC Regulation)

In 2017, various EU bodies and Member States discussed the proposal published by the Commission in 2016 for the new CPC Regulation on the Cooperation of Consumer Authorities (Consumer Protection Cooperation). The CPC Regulation will bring authorities collaborating across borders the right to order the closure of online scam websites, impose fines and track money flows to determine the entities behind scams. In addition, cooperation between supervisory authorities within the EU will be strengthened.

The European Parliament approved the Regulation in November 2017, and it will enter into force in January 2020.
