FCCA concluded investigation into VR’s connecting transport based on the request for action submitted by Easmar Logistics

In April 2014, Easmar Logistics Oy submitted a request for action concerning VR to the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority. In the request for action, the company alleged that VR was abusing its dominant market position through pricing and other procedures in the market concerning connecting transport and related terminal operations. Connecting transport refers to the railway transport carried out on the Finnish side in the railway traffic between Finland and Russia. VR had an exclusive right to carry out connecting transport until 22 December 2016.

Easmar Logistics withdrew its request for action in the summer of 2017. Considering the reports received in the issue as well as the withdrawal of the request for action, the FCCA did not consider it necessary to continue investigating the issue and terminated its processing of the case in October 2017.
