In Christmas 2017, the Finnish Government presented a proposal (in Finnish) on the ratification of a cooperation agreement between the Nordic competition authorities to the Finnish Parliament. This is based on a treaty signed by FCCA Director General Juhani Jokinen in September 2017 at the annual meeting of the Nordic competition authorities (in Finnish) organised by the FCCA.
The cooperation agreement replaces the cooperation agreement signed in 2001 between Denmark, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. The agreement will ensure effective cooperation between the Nordic competition authorities. Participating in the cooperation will enable Finland to more effectively enforce competition rules. Forms of cooperation agreed in the agreement include notification of investigations, information sharing, conducting requests for information and other investigations on behalf of another Nordic competition authority, and assisting in inspections, with the exception of mergers and acquisitions.
